***** I used zinc primate, to coat after the de-rusting. You get a yellowish
clear chemical coat afterwards.
Zinc Primate is unobtainium because of EPA restrictions. However, you can
buy it by the gallon from POR 15. There must be some loophole in the law
that allows a "home-user" to play with zinc primate, whereas a company
cannot use it.
The next step is painting. I used POR-15 Black Gloss paint. Two or three
thin coats will do the trick.
I was pondering doing it in Powell Yellow, but my wife wouldnt let me use
the stove for baking on the powder coat.

Another lister asked "What washing soda (specifically) did you use, and what
charger setting."
"Arm and Hammer Washing Soda, Detergent Booster and Household Cleaner",
which you will find in the supermarket alongside your everyday detergents
for clothes washing. About $3 for 3 lb box.
Washing Soda = 100%Sodium Carbonate

As for the charge setting. For small pieces, like the accumulator, around
150 ma is preferred - Long and Slow.
Most cheapo battery chargers have no settings. You are lucky if it has a
meter.
To regulate current, I soldered four 12v lamps(tail lights) in series, and
used a test lead to select the bulb, or string of bulbs, for the current I
wanted.
Larger work pieces will need larger currents, because of the larger surface
area. When I did the oil pan , it was drawing about 1 or 2 amps.

Current flow is more or less 'line of sight', so you need to space
electrodes evenly around the work piece. And I rotate the workpiece 180
degrees every 12 hours or so.

Because you guys prefer looking at pix instead of reading (why else would
Playboy be so popular?), I've added 'girlie' pix to the website.

Huw: (hint) --> you need to turn off Net Nanny before you can view the pix.
