86 Coupe - funny noise & ISV

Mark,
As Ed said, it's the fuel pump. They get noisy and sound like a can of bees
long before they fail. Coupes have the pump mounted on a tray under the
car, instead of inside the tank like the 5000 etc.
For the ISV, I _HOPE_ you didn't use brake cleaner. Brake cleaner will
certainly destroy the seal in the ISV, you might as well start searching for
a new one. Even Carburetor cleaner is too aggressive, Throttle Body cleaner
should be the fluid of choice - get a 9 volt battery (not 12 volts) remove
the ISV from the car and make the valve click with 9 volts. Blast it with
TB cleaner and then operate the valve - if more junk comes out with another
blast of TB cleaner, rinse and repeat as necessary. Not sure if the 86
Coupe ISV is the same as a MC engine ISV, if it is, then if you can blow
through the valve, then it's bad.
Cheers!
