you know you've got an old car when...

I have fun with the LT-1Q. The starter switch contact inside the switch is
broken so the starter activates with a big red button. The start procedure
then becomes too complicated for folk at Emissions. The same emissions folk
nearly ran the car off the dyno as they were too lazy to tie it down and
didn't expect a beat up 5K to "climb" the rollers. ;-)
Mind you my SAAB 900i with the "put it in reverse to remove the key" was too
complicated for a lot of folk also.

Or - when you don't leave the car with anyone such as service garages or car
washes cause they would never be able to figure out all the idiosyncrasies
to get it started.

...you give a mechanic a sheet with what to fix, and the cautions (broken
door lock, alarm arms itself all the time, battery drain...) is longer than
the list of what to fix...
*sigh*.
