1998 A4 Avant ... Problem Areas?

I have just started my search for a A4 Avant. Looks like there a lot more  
'98's on the market than '99 or '00's.
I plan a trip in a few days to check out some of these cars ......  What do I 
look for (problem wise)? What are the weak points? The '98's only come  with 
a V6 (any problems?) I will be looking at 5-speeds and don't mind the  taller 
gears with the V6.
I know my older Audi's (currently own a '85 4KQ and a '88 80Q), I do all my  
own wrenching, but have never even driven an A4.
