Is anyone here familiar with B5/C5 ABS and brake bleeding/flushing/plumbing....?

You need a pressure or vacuum bleeder.  Manual bleeding will NOT work.  ABS
pump must be engaged to fully flush the various internal valves and fluid
pathways.  VAG-COM (or equivalent) is required.
