No, I think it was when they lifted the 55 mph limit that allowed it 
to be raised to 65.  The current bump to 70 (in many places) is only 
icing on the cake.  I can remember when it took my parents 16-17 
hours to drive to Miami for Christmas every year from our location in 
NC.  Now I can do the drive in 12-13 hours to go see the Dolphins 
play.  I can't even imagine going 55 mph on the interstates anymore.

Third most popular is when they enabled non-interstates to go over 55.
