Oil and plugs?

1. They are not "plug picky" at all - in fact I doubt plugs are your
problem. I'd suspect MAF, vacuum, injector, damaged wire, intermittent
coilpack, before a worn out plug. but you should be able to check them
to see easily enough.
I dont know the model or gap. But even for my S4 biturbo (2.7t) I paid
about $6.50 for OEM bosch plugs.
Buy the OEMs. They will work.
The best, vw 502 approved, ACEA A3 oil from Mobil1 is 0W40. No other
mobil (domestic) is A3 and Vw and Porsche approved for all weather
conditions, although the new 15W50 also meets a3 and is on Porsche's
list for hot climates only (> 50dF). I think that rules out norther
Florida in the winter.
The AMSOIl is the 5W40.
I used Mobil1 5W30 for years, with great results, in my biturbo. So its
a fine choice in a pinch.
But then I learned there's something better. The specs on the 0W40 are
amazing. Better shear strength.
Much higher VI. Thinner cold. Thicker hot. just plain better in
every possible respect.
If you - or anyone reading - wants an oil spreadsheet I made with a
very few choices compared ( and a control or two), let me know by
email.
