bummer. i just drove a pilot for the first time this weekend [ friends car,
up snowboarding]. it is utterly AWFUL to drive. as you say, BIG, fat, soft,
grabby yet weak brakes, completely underpowered and the tranny is garbage.
impossible to drive the thing smoothly because of it's constant shifting and
poor timing of shifts. a trillion pounds and awd yet still felt really dodgy
on snow and slick roads, where my buddy's s4 felt bolted to the ground.

all hail quattro.

altho there was a new FJ on display at alpine meadows. kind of a cool car,
in a grown-up-boy-tonka-truck sorta way. they do have a torsen center diff,
which is pretty cool.
