That is one of Walter Treser's creations, but it' not his scariest. That
has to go to either his "Hunter" versions of various Quattro models, or the
"Roadster" built on the UrQ.

The wheels that Frank mentioned are functional, but also a major annoyance.
They're a true fan that draws cooling air past the brakes, but they are
390mm diameter requiring Michelin TRX tires which I don't believe are made
any more. It doesn't matter since they weren't all that great when they
were originally available.
I believe the US versions were called the "Super 4000" & "Super 5000"
depending on which model you were having modified, but those options were
strictly dealer-installed. None of it was done through AoA. (I was a
VW/Audi Parts Manager through that period of time) It was mostly cosmetic
items that got installed in the US, but a complete make-over would've
included the lower suspension and louder exhaust.....questionable as to
actual performance benefits.

that "1" symbol is treser as is the cowcatcher-looking front airdam and
the dish/turbofin wheels.
i've seen contemporary body kits/wheels on the 4kq and 5kq as well.
of the 3, the 4kq probably pulled it off best.
treser was a usa dealer option in 85 & 86.
the steering wheel was cool...
