This is to all who may look at a 1.8T for purchase. MAKE SURE the oil change
intervall was followed!!! I cannot stress this enough. I've personally seen
a engine replacement rejected by Audi for a 12000 mile oil change interval.
Without going into specifics, the 1.8T's are prone to oil pressure problems.
Not all of them, and not due to a design flaw. Nonetheless, the oil change
interval is 10000 miles, + or - 1000. That means, 11000 is the max. No
records, I wouldn't buy. If the interval is followed, Audi covers the
engines for an extended period of time, even though they are out of waranty.
I worked at and Audi not too long ago, and saw quite a few of these 1.8's
coming in with problems.

Also, if it's owned by someone who drives spiritedly, make sure cool down
was done each time.

Personally, I'd just be as particular as I can when looking at any 1.8T. It
is a good engine, other than that. Takes very well to tuning, delivers good
economy, and has very little turbo lag, especially compared to older turbo
cars.

The 2.8's are also very smooth and fairly economical, and the engine itself
is relatively troublefree.
