[urq] Sick Feeling - Engine not engaging trans.

I have not yet bled the slave cylinder. It is plumbed - PITA as the line does
not turn with respect to the fittings, so I'd hat to to have to remove it.
Might be able to back it out without removing the line - partial suspect that
the pin is stuck forcing the pressure plate in disenguaged position.
Don't see how the slave could be engaging if no pressure on it, but maybe I
need to try bleeding and working it. What is strange is I tested before
installing in the car and all was fine - engine was turning the shafts. I did
install engine and trans as complete assembly.
I don't have the engine running yet, but could manually lock the diff, but
don't understand why that would make a diffence if all wheels are on the
ground.
I did have a problem with another disk - incorrect one which had the throwout
portion out additional 1/4". It did the same thing, so I went and got the
correct disk. I thought all was well the second time aroung.

... are you sure the transmission is going into gear? Have you tried
changing the direction of crankshaft rotation back and forth and
listening for "clunks" as the gear lash comes into play?
Be sure to lock the center diff and use the rear drive flange ... then
there's no question that the differentials are out of the loop ... try
rotating the output flange back and forth and listen for the same sort
of gear lash clunking.
200 and 5000 flywheels should be the same ... you didn't have any
problems mating the engine and tranny getting the splines to engage the
clutch plate?
Do you have the clutch plumbed in and bled? If so, do you feel the
clutch appears to work properly from the pedal? If you don't have the
clutch working yet you might want to back out the slave cylinder to make
sure that the clutch release mechanism appears to be functioning
properly.
Good luck!
