So is there a verdict on rebuilding hydraulic hoses?

I have BTDT on an urQ, mine, and Geraint has BTDT on his 200qta10v. The shop
is here in Montreal and deals usually with truckers, paper mills, and
general hydraulic hoses.

Both experiences were painless, my urQ pressure hose rebuilt was less than
100$ (400$ at OEM), using the original ends welded to a new rubber
hose/fittings. Still on the car 5 years later, including winter driving.

Geraint had both pressure hoses rebuilt, and they kept the "silencer" from
the old hose and placed it in the new custom-made hose. That operation cost
him 75$ more (he will chime in with the details) but he is pleased since the
system is quiet and leak free.

And I think Brady 200qta20v had a non-silenced hose on his ride and he
changed it because of the noise.

Brady ?
Geraint ?

I had a hp ps hose rebuilt on my 90q, cost me less than half the price
of the genuine item. Only thing I recall was that it was a little
noisier than the stock item. Other than that, no problem whatsoever.

I have searched archives on both audifans and 20v.org, and found mixed
good/bad about the end results. I need both the high-pressure lines for
my cq and one for my S4 that I just found out lists for over $500 at the
friendly neighborhood Audi dealerachip.

The two for the coupe weren't nearly as outrageous, but still probably
waaaay more than the cost of a rebuilt hose.

Thanks for any insight/BTDT.
