Jim,
Agree on the snow tires! After almost 8 years of Audi ownership (ownerships,
multiple cars!) I had recently purchased a set of rims with blizzaks
installed. Car was AMAZING in the snow! Only had two substantial storms in
the NE this year where I really needed snows though..
With that said, used to commute 160 rt for work. All Seasons were acceptable
as most of the driving was on the thruway, never had a problem. Comes down
to driving within the vehicles (and drivers) capabilities. Body shops get
all kinds of work in the winter time, usually a higher preponderance of
SUV's and AWD's. We are NOT invincible with snows! haha
As I'm not commuting anymore I'll use the all seasons for three seasons,
then switch over when snow time rolls around. All seasons are okay in light
snow if you drive accordingly, not a big deal to switch rims when the bad
stuff comes!
Really want new springs in my 200 20v, but stalling as I don't want to give
up the ground clearance! With snows the car is unstoppable, but the
clearance isn't quite enough as is. In addition, discovered the UFO brake
ducts are a handy place for snow banks to collect in!
