so the ignition tumbler just came out... sweet.

So two weeks ago, I put the key in the ignition, turned the key, and the
starter cranked, and then stopped cranking. The ignition tumbler had
come out toward me a little bit. I thought, Sweet.

I tried to put it back in and wiggle it around, hahaha. I prayed to the
Audi god. I went ahead and pulled out the key with the tumbler on it.

Then I took off the panel under the steering wheel, unplugged the wiring
harness multi-hedral octagonal plug from the ignition switch. Started
shorting pins, got a couple of paper clips, and I've been driving the
car hot-wired since.

Got a new ignition switch, took my old one off, and it didn't survive
the disassembly process. I don't think it matters, it looks like this
is a mechanical problem in the lock.

The end of the tumbler has a pin or cotter hole in it. Probably
something used to be in there to hold the tumbler inside the lock.

Is this a locksmith job or a dealer job or can I order all the parts
with a new key? Any ideers? I don't see any way to finish disassembly
of the actual lock.

Thanks folks,
Linc
