Consider yourself fortunate because I just bought a 2004 Allroad and there is NO dipstick tube!  All access for fluid level checking and filling is from under the car.    The filling procedure involves running the engine at idle while hand pumping the new trans. fluid next to the hot exhaust pipe while the car is on jack stands.   Very exciting to say the least.

Not unusual because it's also true for my 97 A4 and I suspect for all Audis at least post-96 onwards.
