eBay gets their money from sellers. I think that's all you need to know
about the value of that "contract".
Your minimal recourse is to leave negative feedback. Of course, that
invites "retaliatory NFB", one of the weak links in eBay's FB system.
This happened to me once, only the item "sold" for $1.
I would say, unless you like paying lawyers up front in the hope of some
return, you have no real recourse.
Of course, if you have a brother-in-law who likes you and lives in the
seller's area, and is a little unstable...
