I'll start off saying "I don't know." But...
The CEL usually comes on when a sensor doesn't respond properly. For example,
a bad O2 sensor will throw a code. I didn't notice anything about a sensor
in your post. Does the EGR have a sensor? (I don't think the solenoid would
qualify.) If so, check it and its connections.
