97 A4 2.8l V6 AFC code, No start, No spark, No DTCs

Has anyone ever had an Audi A4 2.8l 12v AFC code engine with a no start, no 
spark, and no DTCs
condition? I have one that I am working on now, a 97 A4 quattro that 168,000 
miles showing
on the odometer. The problem started off as hard to start with very long 
crank times and now 
has progessed to a no start. It is not spark plugs, ECU, ignition control 
module, coolant temp sensor   or camshaft position sensor. I have scanned this A4 
numerous time and only found one DTC, a coolant temp sensor out of range 
which was changed and damaged by a previous "ham fisted repair"--the sensor had 
been driven in to seat it with a screw driver blade". It was replaced by a new 
temp sensor. Thanks in advance.
