Unless you can find about 8 terminals on that 3 pin transistor, it ain't it.
The wiring diagram (which is at work, so I can't reference it directly)
shows the unit to be different than what you describe. Besides, the
function of the VS is to supply controlled voltage to the temp and fuel
level gauges. It has nothing to do with lighting. John
