[urq] Better fuel pump needed

OK - anyhow I ordered this:

Walbro GSL392 Fuel Pump
External in-line pump up to 600hp they are rated at 255l/h. They are the equivalent to
the BOSCH 044. Made in US by Walbro they are excellent quality and come with a full
fitting kit including brackets and instructions. If you are considering an 044 this is a
great cheaper alternative.

Should be fine and I got 2 for the cost of the comparable Bosch unit, but hope I won't
need the second one - might run them in parallel.

Maybe try listening to the input you do get. Yes you don't have a stock
application - but its still 10V and frankly I seriously doubt you need
more fuel than an RS2'd 20V running 22+ psi. You asked for a
recommendation and I gave you one - if you don't want the input then
don't ask. Go buy your 044 pump and let us know how it works.

OK - I just wish folks would just answer my questions. The part about
Autohaus AZ is helpful, as that provides a potential source for the
solution.

I don't have a stock application and need a higher flow, higher output
pump. I the recent past I have seen many Bosch pumps that came as
"remanufactured" even though not specified as such when purchasing.
Some may have been new. They were garbage.

I want a high output high flow high reliability pump. Sources are
helpful.

Thanks,

Ben

Rebuilt? I don't recall the one I got being a rebuilt. Why Spend $300
when you can get the right part for ~$100 less. Call Scott Mockry or
Autohaus AZ.

As I mentioned, the rebuild quality of pumps were not good a few years
back. I just don't want to make the same mistake again.

Indeed I should be able to get a good new Bosch pump for under $300. I
will use the latest highest output pump I can find. The pump for the NG
cars was a bit higher output than the UrQ one, but I agree, the older
pump should be fine - just why not get the beefier pump?

I have a plain old stock urq fuel pump with my urq with somewhat RS2'd
3B pushing 22+ psi - fuel is not an issue - so it shouldn't be for you
either. Make sure you are getting good voltage to the pump. Stock urq
pumps were about $190 last I heard....

Turns out one of the problems I've had with my Megasuirt EFI
installation and tuning has been a crappy fuel pump. It limits flow and
the engine was running crappy at 5k and now is cutting out at lower RPM
and even idle too - buzzing is very load. Now this is the third or
fourth pump I've installed in this car. The first pump was totally
seized from setting when I got the car about 5 years ago. I purged the
lines and flushed the tank and installed a pre-filter. I installed an
87.5 Coupe GT/Model 90 pump - higher flow and pressure. The first one
was defective out of the box. The second one is now acting up. Tank
was just flushed and I routinely replace the pre-filters even though
they look clean, so I don't think any garbage is getting into the pump.

So I am looking for recommendations for the best pump to use since I no
longer have CIS. I would be nice to have the output fitting mate with
the stock fitting, but mainly I want a reliable high output and pressure
pump. The inlet is already using a larger hose. I'm tired of doing
jobs 2 and 3 times, so this time I won't try to skimp on cost, although
the ones I've been putting in a Bosch Replacements.

Recommendations?

Ben
