I'm sorry to even drag this on since I'm just catching this and another similar one
later, but I do not believe anything in my posts should have been taken as arrogant or
rude. I received directly and indirectly several "smart ass" commentaries, I don't'
appreciate it and feel I need to say so. Nothing I wrote earlier should have prompted
any of the negative comments I've been reading and I do take it personally. I
originally asked a simple question and implied up front that I had already done certain
checks. I did this for the very reason that I wanted an answer a reasonably specific
question. I did not ask for a commentary on if I had really checked the things I said
I already checked. I followed up trying to re-focus the question as it was getting off
track - happens all the time on threads like this. I merely was stating along with the
fact that I appreciate that additional information, but really if I ask a question,
please don't sidetrack with superfluous other information - and not all of it was and I
said so.

Again, most of you know I have been on this list and dealt with these and other cars
long enough that I check the obvious first, and in this case even if I hadn't, I don't
plan to get gas in my face until I get a replacement pump in hand. Think! What would
you do if you were in my position - got a car to fix, found a problem, need a solution
fast - parts take time to order, then to get shipped, .and I didn't want the same
solution as before unless it is the only one available especially since am sure there
are better alternatives that are probably less expensive.

Instead I got insulted numerous times. It was not called for and serves no good purpose.
Re-read my posts, see what I'm saying before implying I'm an idiot or claiming to be a
pompous know-it all (same things really). I tried to let it rest today after receiving
an appropriate apology. Folks, I don't believe I have ever been rude or insulted any
ones intelligence on this list, and if I have I'm not aware of it. You are not doing
anyone a service by providing additional unsolicited information like the post below and
a few others in the same vein.

If you don't have an answer to the question or other useful information, then don't
follow up with this sort of reply. Read what I was saying before calling me a whiner,
or quoting that I said I knew the answer before everyone else - would I have asked the
question if I knew the answer already? No! I have too much else to do with very little
time, and was hoping someone had already BTDT. I have no need to prove anything to any
one here on this list - I post to ask for help and I post to offer help. I word most of
my emails very carefully and often re-write them for accuracy and clarity. I think if
you re-read every email that led up to the reply below, then you will see - this was not
called for.

Anyway, lets drop it. I derived my solution based on very helpful input from the list
two days ago (even said so) and I ordered my pump (x2) for less than half the cost of
the OEM part. I have more than one car and the extra will get used sooner or later I
received some extra ideas and information that will make sure this gets fixed right and
know even more about fuel pumps now than before. I thanked folks for the help,
reminded others that I did not need continued reminders to check the obvious. So let's
drop it - Questions answered - problem resolution is in progress awaiting parts. I will
follow-up as I always do with results. I do expect to find a problem with a clogged
screen, in addition to a defective fuel pump that I am certain is bad, and perhaps other
issues as well. I will post to the list the results as I generally do.

Please let's have more courtesy and respect for others - I think we are above this.
Let's concentrate on being positive and uplifting even when it seems a negative reply is
appropriate - it never really is IMO. If I seemed deriding in any of my prior posts,
then I apologize, but it was not my intention to be and I think you'll see that if you
take time to actually read what I wrote instead of glossing over and seeing something
else or perhaps replying based on what someone else said in their reply.

Keep it civil.

Ben

With over 1000 or so listers, or whatever the number is, his post was arrogant and rude,
period. We've all asked questions, only to get answers that we already knew, and in
some cases actually were the first to come up with those answers. I've even had my own
posts quoted back to me. You say nothing, or thank you and filter through and sometimes
find something helpful.
When someone goes out of their way and takes the time to assist you as best they can or
understand you DON'T dress them down before the entire list and then blow your own horn.
That's one of the things that makes this list so unique and helpful compared to most,
there are some of us that still remember we weren't born knowing everything, and we're
not God's gift to Audi engineering.
It's just a matter of being civil and polite, maybe Ben was just having a rough night,
who knows, who cares at this point. Next time do like most of use, write the arrogant,
rude and crude reply, insult to your hearts content, and then hit delete instead of
send. Or keep it in your draft box and send a few hours later, after a reread in
different light, guarantee you'll do some editing.
