+1 on poly bushing squeakage. i've got them in the rear of my a4, and they
are/were pretty annoying. i replaced the ones that came w/ the rsb kit
[neuspeed] with greasable energy suspension bits [w/ zerk fittings] and that
helped.. but not by much.

i would never put poly on a daily driver. although there are apparently new
versions impregnated with various spaceage ointments that skweak less, but i
have no direct experience.

as for the original question, if you're happy with the suspension as-is,
just fix the squeaks, as popular opinion states. if you want to upgrade,
first fix them squeaks then get new shocks and springs. i keep cheaping out
and getting spring / shock combo's [currently h+r sport, bils sport] that
almost never seem to improve things, other than ride harshness. the intro
coilover kits ive ridden / driven are great - all of the ups, very few of
the downs. i would definitely recommend coilovers.

as for height, when i researched for my a4, it was VERY hard to get accurate
height info on any of the usual kits - koni, bilstein, h+r, vogtlang, b+g,
etc. - they all seem to indicate that they start and inch or so lower than
stock and adjust down from there. all of the kits [stasis, 2bennett, etc]
that adjust up to or above stock height are much pricier. kind of a bummer
if you want to keep the sensitive lower bits out of the weeds.

fwiw was in an s6 that brian billotti was selling, a gorgeous car with full
rs2 kit, etc with european s6+ [iirc] suspension and that was brilliant.
tight, composed and stock ride height. a possible upgrade option for you?

good luck,
jim
