87 5000TQA Anti-Lock Brake Problem

Thanks to all.
In an attempt to save a trip to the dealer (a long one for me) does anyone
know the approximate thickness of these plastic spacers?
It seems to me that one should be able to push the sensor in all the way,
mark it, then pull it back this spacer thickness/distance and get fairly
close. Or does this not work in practice?
