Ok, to add to ze confusion:
I own two '98 VW Jetta TDis. Mann oil filter W 840/2.
It is preferred by me to the Mahle OC 249 in that the
Mann is a tad narrower. It is a certified PITA to
change ze olfilter in ze A3 Jetta, ya?
Using ze previously divined theoriez, this means I
have a 2000 km filter?
I did find a print version of their 2000 catalog at my
favorite EuroPartsHaus earlier this week, and have
made copies of an application page as well as ze code
for what ze Mann model numbers actually mean in
Englisch. I will scan and post as time permits.
Oh, ya, the OC 249 looks like it is the same size as
the OC 49, which was spec'd for the older VW diesels.
