Relaying your headlights vs. headlight life

Just a thought...

When you give your headlights a nice, potent source of
DC power, they will draw more current, etc. than
through the Audi OE wiring.

One of the minor drawbacks is reduced filament life.

I work with vacuum tubes in large UHF TV transmitters.
These run $30,000 to $60,000 each. We are taught to
run the filaments as low of a voltage as practical to
get the desired operation on the tube. Filament
voltages above what are necessary shorten tube life,
end of story. There is a term for this called
"filament management".

In an automotive application, of course, we want nice
bright headlights...
