Can't open trunk '87 4000CS

If the taillight you are refering to is one of the sides, this may
work for you. You will have to use a piece of wire or such, though.
I'd start by inserting and turning the key as far to the right as
possible (don't force or break it though) and push in on the button.
If this doesn't work, unlock the doors with the key in the drivers
door, and turn the lock cylinder in the trunk all the way to the left
(horizontal) and push in. If not, you will have to manually open it. I
suppose it's possible through the speaker holes, but they are pretty
small.

BTW, I have a few 4000's, and can take some pics if that will help at all.
