New struts are about $80 each and will outlast the car. Junk yard
struts...might be worse than what you have in the car.
That being said, there is a cap nut half way down the strut, behind the
spring. You can get to it with a pipe wrench, strut should come right
out once you unscrew this. You'll see a hex (Allen) hole in the middle
of the strut shaft, you can use this to hold the shaft while you remove
the top nut, but the way you've got it, it should come out, and you get a
free top bushing.
