The right front wheel bearing on my '99 A4 is starting to make noise (increases
proportional to speed, louder/softer when turning). The last wheel bearing I
had done by my mechanic. But if I'd bought the tools then, this one would be
almost free, so I'm on the verge of buying the tools.

Sorry no tool tip, but when I did the rear wheel bearing on my A4, I took the wheel bearing housing and my new wheel bearing to a machine shop and had them replace it for $35. My thinking was that I'm not going to be doing this that often, so why pay extra for the tools. If I had bunch of them to do, I'd definately get the tools.
