Steering RACK

> is easy to fix too- you most likely need a few seals for the PS pump. Hard to say- these cars also have some hose leak issues
>but again that's not too hard to deal with- as long as the steering rack isn't leaking you're not talking to big a project to fix.

>Well the A8's are getting into that range, the 95.5 S6's ( with awesome seats) are also in that price range- would you like a manual or automatic?

Automatic of course ... I have had back surgery and don't want a stick shift again.

wow there are some nice cars out there for less than 10 K ~

>There is a local outfit with a '99 A8 70k miles Ming ( Dark blue) blue with the nice wheels, very clean - they were talking 8-9k ( with a Timing belt

>There are also plenty of A6 cars in the 5-7k range with the '99-2000 A6 TT cars comming into the mix at 8-12k range.

>I think you'd be happier with the C chassis ( A6) or D ( A8) car and a non-turbo car.

Ya, I like the larger car -- luxury sports car that I can drive like a bat outta h- - -
and be comfy. My car is always full of equipment, so I can't go smaller than standard.

>Check the audifans.com marketplace and craigslist- those seem to be the best place to find good clean Audi's.

I have to close a deal before I can buy one, but I wanted to get an idea in my mind of might
be a good choice for me and start looking at them and such before I have the money to buy ....
I find that that is often the best way to buy .... shop before I can buy, LOL

Thanks ~~~ !

>
>There are a few places ( 2 in Minn) that specialize in custom purchases for Audi's I can send you the info - they basically take your
>specs and shop for you via internet and auction to get you the model/year combo you're looking for.

I can do that .... that's how I found the current A-6 in Denver. It was a grand less than the others around the
country and even with the $278 air fare I came out ahead. IT was in nice shape when I got there too.

>I'd say a 99 or newer A8 or 2000 A6 4.2 would be a great car.

Okie, thanks !

>The A6 4.2 has the advantage that you can get a 6 speed manual ( the A8's are
>all tiptronic) which will have less long term maint. cost. Stay away from the '97 A8's as those where a first year for the new chassis and tranny
>isn't tiptronic although it is a 5 speed.

Thanks for pointing that out !

>If you're concerned with fuel milage look into a VW Passat with 4-motion ( ok it's not an Audi or quattro ) with a DIESEL. 45+ mpg.

Well, I am more concerned with keeping the car on the road and performance. I drive a lot to Phoenix up and down the mountains,
and I drive to Sedona, an hour on switchbacks at least twice a week. I need good suspension and PERFECT handling. And COMFORT, LOL

I want the moon, ha ha

>I'd like to see Auid bring their diesels to the USA but by the time they do it had better be in a diesel/electric hybrid.

I have friends in Minnesota that I haven't seen in 17 years or more .... maybe I'll find one out your way !
