Better to use a throttle body cleaner than carb cleaner.  The latter has no lubricating properties, while throttle body cleaners incorporate a lube that the system needs to move smoothly.
   
  Also, as Huw notes, the click results from a mechanical movement of the switch and is not an accurate test of its functionality.
