How to keep polished aluminum

No direct experience with underhood components, but when preserving
polished aluminum on 2 wheeled steeds I have found that nothing you can
get in a spray can will hold up to hot petroleum derivatives and
gasoline. Two stage clear coat is the only stuff that holds up, although
it does start to yellow after a few years of intense heat exposure. Even
a single stage off the shelf clear coat still beats the hell out of
polishing the aluminum every couple of months. There are clear powder
coats too, if you're near a powder coater might be relatively cheap with
a quick turn around.

Post a pic when you're done.
