Control Arms Bushings R&R

Thanks for the offer Louis, but the answer will be no; I'm quite far from Montreal.

I reside in Miami, Fl.

Thanks again, anyway.

Tom's input is quite useful, and will look into that. I already inquired at Advance Discount AP for the ball joint press tool and they lend it for a refundable deposit of $140 plus tax.

Although, I must admit, I'm inclined to fab the same tool as Huw's since I currently own 2 VW QSWs.

I can also relate to Huw's degree of Lazyness; but in my case it had more to do with economics.

I bought a set of 2 new control arms, which come with new bushings, from AutohausAZ.com for some $64 dollars each. The local machine shop wanted about "between $15 to $20" per control arm to have the bushings R&R; add to that the cost of about $6 per bushing and I could have ended up paying as much as $52 per control arm. Forget about it, I told them.

The other QSW, however, although does not quite need new bushings right now, I'm thinking of R&R them since I'm replacing just about everything in the front suspension; tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearing (already done), new brake pads and rotors and freshly rebuilt 1/4 drive-shafts-clutch job just 5K miles ago with new seals and everything.

-Regards,

-Louis
