How to keep polished aluminum

I think it looks rather nice - just want to keep it that way.  The engraved portion with
rough texture was left as-is.  I gues bueaty is in the eye of the belholder - in this
case everyone that has seen it likes it.  I probably would not have completed the
polishing, but it was partly done when I got it, so I finished the job.  No sandpaper
was used.

Please tell me you didn't polish the cast aluminum to be mirror- like...nothing looks
gaudier to me. Ugh!
