fragile paint on the newer cars?

Are the chips along the nose of the hood? I have noticed that the shape
and aerodynamics of the car have a great deal to do with that. Some of
my A6s (and other cars) were bulletproof, some were covered with chips
by 2 years old. Please don't ask about my BMW :(
