Alfa did not have this kind of precision in their locks!  The locks
needed to be lubed every other week to work correctly, the striker plate
also had a rubber bushing that would get brittle/hard and impeded the
"bounce" needed to latch the mechanism.

Best paint protection for Alfa doors was soft soled boots. ;-)
