I.m not sure how it's supposed to work if the car is running, but on my wife's 
2006 Passat if you unlock the door and then don't open it within a certain 
period of time, say 60 seconds, it relocks itself. Supposed to be an anti 
oops feature where you inadvertently unlock the door but then walk away.
