Hah, and I thought flinging a 2200 lb A2 GTi was fun. Of the cars I've
owned, it was still the most fun car on the track or autocross course.
Certainly wasn't the fastest thing on the track (come'on, it had all of 100
HP and was a brick) but gawd it was fun. It's that immediate response and
tossablity feeling.
And a comment about Mark R's Fiat X1/9. IF it was stock, the highest HP
variants had a grand total whopping 80 HP, and that was the last models of
Bertone's whom imported them under license after Fiat pulled out. Don't know
if they could be tuned to much more than that, from all of the Autocrossers
in my region and the surrounding regions that ran them (they were actually
quite good, many, many years ago) I don't recall that even the DP (prepared)
guys got much more than 100 HP from them. They couldn't even lighten them
much, as the platform was designed to meet ambitious US crash standards that
never materiallized. So there was this incredibly stiff platform with great
handling and no power. Don't know if there were too many engine swaps in
them, unlike 914's.
