The bulbs themselves have specific IDs - H4 is the three prong hi/lo
used in a lot of eurolights, and the lenses available for retrofit in
old sealed bean systems.
H1 is a high beam only bulb.
The crappy US lights these replace use bulbs like "9004", with an awful
filament arrangement.
I guess you don't need a deep tutorial here, nor to I want to write it.
But bulbs have "one number". Lenses, on the other hand often have two -
the two bulbs that are used in them. My 90Q lenses are "H4/H1" in that
sense.
My coupe's twin 5" lenses alse use H4 for hi/lo and H1 for hi only.
Quite convenient.
My Chubby truck uses 7" lenses running H4's only. Or, at least, it will
after I deal with the stupid plastic stuff around the connector that
interferes with installation. Hmm, and I might put H4's in the plow
lights one of these days, too.
And as someone else pointed out, go to Daniel Stern's site.
