That's correct, and same test should be done on semi warm car. Anyway,
the only definite signs of coolant loss in the cabin is underlay and
carpet wetness, window steaming and specific smell, and proper way to
establish the coolant leak is to pressurize the system to slightly more
than nominal pressure, and observe on the gauge if there is a pressure
loss over time.
BTW, if not form heater matrix, the fumes in the car can be getting
through misplaced or missing firewall - bonnet seal.
