Fwd: New head lights for a 5KTQ type 44

I'll 3rd this - my 88 5ktqa currently has the quad H1/H4 headlights from an
84 5kt. I had nice euros when I bought the car but they promptly got
smashed by the winter gravel they sprinkle on the roads up here in Canada.
I now have a new (used) set of Euros (thanks Chris S.) that I am waiting
until spring to put on. I have found new ones to be unobtainium so I don't
want to risk smashing these with the winter gravel.
The conversion was pretty easy and anyone with a bit of mechanical aptitude
and intuition will be able to figure it out by looking at the parts.
Good luck with this - a very worthwhile swap.

I'll second this.... BTDT and the result was very good. Got the H1/H4 from
an offroad supply place... and the headlight buckets off an 84 wreck.

Find the old quad headlight buckets from the Early type 44 (84-85?) and find
Euro 100 x 150 mm (4 x 6") H4 (Hi/Lo) and H1 (Hi) lamps to go in those
buckets. I dunno if you will have to buy the older core support to go with
the buckets. My feeling is that you may be able to drill and tap your
current core support to do this.
You'll
also need the headlight carriers/adjusters from the same car you'll be
pulling the buckets from. Basically, you're redoing you car to have the same
front end of the early cars, but use Euro lamps instead of US Sealed beams.
