If I am not the one changing my own oil, I always purchase the oil myself
and bring the oil to the mechanic, including the dealer (while the car
was in warranty). This is the way that I am sure that the correct oil
is used. A couple of times I had the dealer change the oil after warranty
because I was too busy, and negotiated a lower charge because I brought
my own oil. The complementary car wash and detail made the expense
worthwhile.
