Fay,

1993 to 1995 Audis are notorious for cat converter issues.
Although usually the 'guts' come loose and end up plugging up the muffler.

Do NOT pay the 'stealership' prices for a cat converter!

Just over two years ago I paid $300 for BOTH cat converters for my '93 90S.
These were direct bolt in replacements through the aftermarket.

I could probably even find the receipt if I looked hard enough...

I had to replace mine because I had hollowed them out when they broke up, but I was selling the car and did not want the feds coming after me for selling a car with non-functional emissions.

IF you pull the cat out and hollow it out yourself...
Save the stuff you break out. It's valuable (wish I had known that at the time).
