I agree, this would make a nice first car, if a bit unexciting (unless you dig up an older Turbo model). I had an '82 Volvo 240 Turbo, and it was pretty good in the snow, even with the wider wheels and tires of the Turbo. If I had splurged for narrower steel wheels and dedicated snows, it would have been very good. I drove it through several Eastern Massachusetts winters, commuting from Groton MA to Boston. I really miss the seats from that car.
