I have no idea why or where this mxhowes guy got the idea of a  diesel
Rabbit, but if you followed the whole thread, you would know that the  whole
discussion was based on Steve's experiences while looking into a car  that
his son might possibly drive and we were talking about new, 2008  vehicles.

Taka,  In the beginning of the thread Steve was looking for a car for  his 
son, the suggestion was made for a Golf. I made a joke (but true to my  
feelings) that it should be a diesel (and I pictured in my mind a Wabbit  Diesel) 
...... things went on from there. I DID miss the part  that they were talking 
about a 2008 model.
 
I guess it's way beyond my ability to even imagine buying your son a  2008 
model! But I guess somebody has to buy the new models,  so ten years later when 
they are worth 15% of the sticker price, us bottom  fishers can score.
