Intake air temp sensor

Whilst checking out the family album for intake air temp sensors for 2000 A4
TDIs I found the following part number
038 906 051
Which apparently is a "thrust sensor" 

I know that the TDIs have a lot of torque, but still.......

My intake air temp sensor has gone out of spec on the '89 200 10v tqa MC2

 

Apparently I need a 034 905 379 B which seems to be Main Stealer only and
$200+ 

Anyone got any better ideas?
