Thank you all for the replies thus far... Resetting has not worked thus far, but I have not yet tried all the
various combinations of "confusing" and "resetting" the system.

I discovered something last night that may be a new clue to aid in exorcising the demons. With the car unlocked, closing the rear hatch causes the central locks to lock and the alarm to arm. No keys anyplace, just close the hatch and beep/lock. Glad I discovered that actually. I have fears of my wife not only locking her keys in the car, but her purse with cell phone and AAA+ card along with the key!

I'll play with this further when/if I get some dry daylight time this weekend. Hopefully before then I can get some working windoze machine to accept my ancient Bentley manual. (The laptop I used to have both the manual and VAG Com installed on croaked.) I would like to get a better idea of the goesintas and goesoutas on the central lock/alarm controller to see what's up. Too bad there aren't any C4s at Pick-N-Pull very often (yet) or I would just swap the module and see what happens.

Thanks again all!

Mike Veglia
