Purchase question for used Audi for me *

Hi Audi listers ~

Thinking about going getting a different used
Audi for me end of next week ....

1.)

Is there a year around 96, 97,
98, 99, that I should avoid for the A6
or maybe A4 (can't afford A8 altho
I'd love to have one).

Also, is there a year that was especially good?

For example, would there be a compelling
reason to get a 98 over a 97; or a 97 over
a 98?

2.)

If I have a choice between a newer car with more miles
say '98 A6 170K miles
vs.
one older with less miles,
e.g. '96 or '97 A6 110K miles
which way would you go, if other things were equal (body, etc),
and the price was the same?

I would take the low mileage, but hubby says
the seals and such are older and mileage doesn't
really matter, and I said it doesn't if the timing
belt has been replaced.   :-)

Not sure which way to go here, and would welcome
some advice....

3.)

Is there a model that is better than the
A6 around 97 or 98 ?
