Go for the Avant (wagon).

I got a good deal ($6200 last December) on a '99 A4 avant, quattro,
V6, tiptronic. I like it a lot.  It's been reliable, too, except for the LED
driver info display in the middle of the instrument cluster (most of the
LEDs are dead; all I have left is the PRNDL at the bottom).
