I think I had said that buying a car from a dealer is about $1,000 over
buying from a private party and that I have not done that during the past.
The only car I have ever been involved in buying from a dealership is
my hubby's Chevy S-10 truck ... never again.
Altho I *would* buy a car from Audi N. Scottsdale as I have had
tremendously good luck with their repair folks .... awesome in fact.

the seller is a German car technician in Tucson at private
European auto repair shop.
He told me up front he paid $200 to have it detailed .... and he
said they did a great job ... they did an outstanding job.

I had planned to take it to the Audi dealership in Scottsdale if I bought one
in Phoenix. I had called them and had it all set up if I found something .....
I could not find what I was looking for *with repair records* nicely priced
and good condition in Phoenix.
I called a lot of sellers and when I mentioned repair records and heard 'no'
I said "good luck but no thank you."

It all depends ... if it takes an hour and the part is reasonable, then it is worth
it to take it in and have them do it .... if they charge 4 hours, then it is something else.
>Fay, it might be time to buy some wrenches. :)
I worked on cars part time for a friend when I was young and laid off of work and not injured
(back surgery, bad neck, asthma etc.) ... so it is not that I cannot work on a car ....
I helped a guy change a tranny when I was 16 and it took me 2 weeks to get the
tranny fluid out of my hair, LOL.
My hubby has "absorbed" all of my metric tools years ago .... If the blower motor
is easy to access it, I'll change it. Same with the fan ... but if it entails work
that might mess the car up, it is worth it to me to take it to where I usually
get the work done.
I will then have them make a note in my book that the work was done and I will then
have proof of repairs (being terrible with hanging on to receipts/papers, etc). I have
it all set up for me in the glove compartment.
I was hoping that someone who has a '97 A6 Avant Wagon would be able to tell me
about the blower motor before I order the part.
Can I change the blower motor from the engine compartment without taking the dash off?
ThanX
