Er, that was '97 and '98 IIRC. I remember those incidents pretty well as I was there, too. Brendan Rudacks long lanky fingers sure came in handy :-)

Has anyone else had this problem?

About July 2 (or 3?) of 1994 (or was it '95?) there was a group of
about 9 Audis convoying across Kansas on our way to the Pike's Peak
Hill Climb scheduled for July 4. We wheeled off of I-70 and almost
directly into an Arby's Restaurant parking lot in Hays, Kansas where
my '89 200 dropped a load of coolant from the very hose you ask
about. One of our group kindly climbed under my car an, after a
quick run to a hardware store, improvised a quick and dirty roadside
repair while sitting in the Arby's parking lot.

Exactly one year later in the very same Arby's parking lot in Hays,
Kansas another group of us had to do the exact same repair to another
Audi under identical circumstances. Now what were the odds of that
happening again?
